I've just tried a dummy booking for NY-AUD and was quoted in US$. So it seems the prices are given in the currency of the country of departure.
The problem is not about being billed in your own currency. The issue is that they process the charge overseas which incurs a foreign currency transaction charge (regardless of the fact that it is in USD) on many US credit cards.
