In reading the linked posts, it looks as though it's a pretty standard procedure at TSA checkpoints. I have to imagine that the same is true at MUC and LHR. You might consider having the mortuary documents translated and certified by the German consulate here in Chicago in case they are scrutinized by security at MUC.
