2) Yes, probably almost everyone here realizes that the hotels get all sorts of reports generated both internally, and from MI HQ, but few, if any of the posters here are privy to those reports, so we can simply make educated guesses based on whatever knowledge we have, which is what I did, and why I used the phrase "I would guess......" Obviously numbers vary from hotel to hotel and from week to week, but again, I was making an educated guess based on the knowledge I had and a range of averages that would seem to make sense. Each hotel also receives a certain number of towels each quarter, but it does vary how many towels each hotel gets.
Honestly I debated if I should post letting you know your assumption was wrong and decided to take a fairly soft approach, I am truly sorry if you felt offended by my post, it wasn't my intent.
My post wasn't an opinion - it was a statement of fact; I understand how you make the jumps that you did in your assumptions but there is some faulty logic involved.....
Now before anyone asks for specifics please remember I am bound by confidentiality agreements and feel disclosing any specifics, while they might be similar to what other guest loyalty programs experience, would be a violation of the agreements....however I'm sure someone, based upon what's been posted in this thread, could come up with a reasonably accurate guestimate
Now onto the laundry...most hotels hold somewhere between 2-3 PAR (in the recent recession it's closer to 2 but I've seen some hotel's get as low as 1.5 but that's extremely tight)...purchases are typically planned according to the budget and the hotels recent performance....some hotels might go months, quarters without any purchases some might make purchase every month (this would be an extreme too)...to be honest the hotel's desired laundry par really depends on if they do laundry in house as most select service/extended stay hotels to or if they contract it out as a lot of full service hotels do (the large convention hotels tend to keep it in house but not always)...PAR doesn't tend to vary often but can change if there is a large seasonal fluctuation in guest counts
