I have a question regarding this also, (sorry to hijack). I am doing a Auckland to San Fran trip and I have used my one complementary upgrade as a Silver member on the way there, my question is when/will this be confirmed before the flight?

Secondly because I used an upgrade will I still gain airpoints on this trip? I was also thinking of going from economy to premium economy using a standby flight for 220ap but unsure if because I am using airpoints if this will remove any airpoints that would have been gained? and or what the chances actually are of even getting it.
