FS Sultanahmet was meant to undergo a major refurbishment in line with the opening of its extention, but this appears to have stalled. An outdoor pool was part of the extension, too, and a huge archeological park.
As for those low energy fluorescent bulbs, Europe is generally fixated on them for ecological reasons (despite them containing mercury and being dangerous to dispose of!). Ordinary light bulbs are now banned from the shops, so many Europeans have stockpiled them to avoid using the new headache-making type. Hotels in Europe appear to be gradually installing the awful fluorescent bulbs, so maybe we should all start travelling with a set of candles!
