Ha, I do the same thing with the amounts: $1.01 -- $1.05 to keep track of them. I don't do the even $1.00 because that seemed to take longer to post, like some sort of token trial amount as when you use your credit card at a restaurant or gas station, and they see if $1.00 will be approved, then run the real amount later.
I've found I can use the automated pay-by-phone system for my cable company, and do all five transactions in a single phone call while I'm watching TV...takes less than 10 minutes.

I do it with $1.01, $1.02, $1.03, etc.. so I can keep track of them. This way you do not have to buy something you don't need, hit the 5 transactions per month, and still receive 5 wooping CO miles from non-pin transactions. For me, it is REALLY easy to take care of the requirement!
