As to moving halfway across the world - yes it happens - I've done it myself on a few occasions, but future travel is something that you have to factor in to the decision to move - you have to be prepared to accept that there will be times in your life when you will be unable to jet off at the drop of a hat for a variety of reasons. I don't think my friend with the ADHD son would even consider moving to anywhere that would involve being a long flight away from the rest of the family.
But you have a point. There will always be some travel involving children that is absolutely necessary but too many parents drag their obviously very unhappy children around on vacation, disrupting the travel of many other passengers in the process.
