I think he was exaggerating for humor.

I also think if anyone would have to objectively judge the quality and priceworthiness of JV bags versus SAB, the Brits would win America back!

The British price comes to around $1600 when converted. The US price is a bit higher, of course. So ideally buy in GB when there, then export. Save UK VAT, currently 17.5%. That would bring it well under $1400. A steal!
