I'm not sure this proposal will be the answer, but something will have to give soon to reduce the amount of carry on baggage. Post checked baggage fees the number of delays due to excess cabin baggage that I encounter has increased immensely on both sides of the Atlantic.

There are lots of options, one bag max, reduce the size, give preference to elites etc. but as someone said on the BA forum last week, the core problem is that aircraft, regardless of size, aren't designed for every person to bring on a roller and another bag. In many cases, they can hold only half that.

As someone who tries to one bag where possible, I of course support this as the solution
