The heating ducts at my home are taped with aluminum tape that looks much like what they used for the airplane. Might be the same for all I know.
I use it also in my dryer to avoid laundry to get caught where a piece of plastic broke off near the lint filter. It withstands heat quite well but needs to be replaced/retaped every 50 hours or so due to the abrasion & impact from the load. So if it's the same tape then it has been stress tested at home in a dryer already.
Edit: No I doubt it's the same. The HVAC tape is UL 181 approved. I'm sure aerospace standards are a bit different.
