The kind folks at AA just responded back to me as I am just returning back from San Fran.
They were kind enough to offer me my Platinum Status based on seeing my travel over the last year. This is a great thing to hear. Not that the status from gold offers that much more. It was just the point of doing all those miles from a midwestern state and achieving Platinum. It became more of goal than anything else. Thanks to all that participated in this thread and offered some great suggestions.
