I would call AAdvantage. I called a few years ago about Gold and I was significantly more than 81 miles short of 25,000 miles and two segments short of 30. I explained I intended to fly quite a bit in the following year, and I got upgraded with no problem. They can check your records and see how much travel you've done and how much you probably will do.
