Also, I do not understand the fascination with a private plunge pool. We hate the things. The Andaman sea is just down the 80 or so steps. This shouldn’t be a problem for somebody 25 years old.
We were at one of the mid-level huts one year after the tsunami and had a fine stay. Amanpuri remains one of my favorite hotels, in fact, it is the model which has been copied by others. But I’m a fan of the Aman style. This guy doesn’t need to spend $1500/night to have fun at Amanpuri.
Sir, as "this guy", I actually think you aren't getting this thread. First, just because I'm 25, doesn't mean I don't want to experience luxury and don't have a sense of what luxurious travel is (I do about 200k miles per year).
The goal of this thread is actually to find what IS the most luxurious so I can spoil my new bride. I don't just want good enough, I want great.
That being said, I really appreciate everyone's help in planning this. As it stands now, we currently are going to do 2 nights at the Peninsula Bangkok, 3 nights at Trisara (in a confirmed spa pool suite with the chance of getting a 1 br villa if available at check in), then the 5 nights at the Le Meridian Khao Lak (in an ocean villa). Do people think this will work?
