Economy prices vary more sharply between a minimum fare of £69 one way and a maximum of £185 one way or a return fare of between £138 and £370. Paying as much for an Economy ticket as it costs for Club on only slightly different dates would not appear to be a very good choice.
There are seats available on this route on Air Miles for 1500 miles return but they are limited to days when the cash fare in Economy is either £69 or £79 and the miserly Air Miles fare engine only seems to allow the £79 fare to occur in one of the two directions. However on that basis paying 750 miles + £50 seems a better bet than paying 1500 miles and no cash supplement.
There seems to be slightly better availability on the route using BA Miles but the taxes payable make it a less attractive option financially, especially in Economy (where the airport and passenger departure taxes payable on BA Miles come to a very large amount compared to the cash fare).
I have noticed that the LGW flight runs on some of the same days as the LCY ones with much lower CE fares on top of which the LGW service has a better product with lounge access and a convertable seat.
I thought BA had binned that LGW-IBZ flight
