One reason it can be good for DL...

When I was still a minor I was flying down from college an a red-eye. Granted I was upgraded, but had a conversation with some folks next to me and indicated I had a 4 hour layover in SEA... they invited me to join them into the AS BR... it was amazing and I was hooked. I even wrote AS to see if they would permit an 18 year old to purchase a membership (for the club, food & free wifi). On my 21st birthday, I flew to OGG and purchased my first year membership enroute. On my renewal last year I did the 3 year membership. Yes, giving a 'stranger' is a risk, and incremental cost for DL, but it can yield a new member
