I haven't actually met anyone in a room - but have had two experiences similar to this one.

The first was at the Westin City Center - DC. I was compensated with the presidential suite. It was a one night stay, so no big deal, but nice to get it.

The second was at the HR Atlanta. We checked in and it appeared as if someone decided to take a disco nap in our bed. The rest of the room was untouched. We called up, they offered to move us. We just told them to change the sheets. They did and added 5K in pts to my account.

That was fair in my opinion.

Mistakes happen, if they comp you a night, yay you. If they give you 5K don't knock it.
