Checking out the seatmap for a June 14th flight PEK to EWR. Wifey and I (both plats) have two exit row seats. Went in today to make sure they were still selected and saw that the bulkhead seats were blued up (extra legroom) and tried to click on them, but to no avail.
Are non-elite passengers now able to purchase those seats prior to them opening up 24hrs before the flight?
When you place the mouse over the seat it says available but it is not clickable.
Checked the return flight to PEK (August) and two of the bulkhead seats are grayed out...

A bit confused and the thread on Extra Legroom seats is way to long to search through for an answer.
