Not a bad plan. I picked points for the latest promo but only because I'm trying to figure out how to burn NBT nights by the end of June and didn't feel like I could burn all the nights I might earn by August.

I don't worry about the certs since my paid stays tend to be business stays and I'd have to pass on the savings. But YMMV.

You should put the Gx promo on your reservation AND mention it at check-in. But even after all that you will probably need to use the web form/call at least as often as not to be sure you get the bonus.
