Delta is not responsible or liable for cash, camera equipment, commercial effects, computer software and equipment, electronic equipment, fragile articles, jewelry, lifesaving medication, negotiable papers, irreplaceable business documents, works of art or other similar valuable items contained in checked or unchecked baggage. These items should be carried by the passenger.
Freezing a hard drive is generally not too big of a deal -- it's sometimes a "last ditch" effort to recover data off of a failing drive. Still, I could imagine a frozen, turbulent hard drive is not good

Anyway, my computer is ancient (7 years) and backed up so I'm not worried if it fails. I'd like it to survive, but if it doesn't, no big deal (got my eye on an iMac, but as long as this dinosaur stays alive, I can't bring myself to replace it...)
