Stayed in mid February at what is supposed to be the height of the winter surf season. The bay is very protected and the surf at the beach was never an issue. The beach was reasonably long (from grass-line to waterline) so it seems that they don't have erosion or high surf issues that would make the beach shorter.

All in all a great property and we plan on staying again. One thing I'd recommend is planning on 3 to 4 nights at the SR and then spend some other nights elsewhere on the island. The area around the SR is a bit sleepy even for Kauai and there is a lot to do elsewhere on the island (canyons, hikes, beaches, hotels, etc.)

The only downside is that it is a lot of points or $$$ but it is worth it IMHO.
