IME this has been the case since before I joined FT. It is always amusing catching reference to deals that were not shared on the board. I don't think this takes away from the overall value in FT. I have learned a lot of tips/tricks/tools to make my travels more fun and more interesting. While I would love to get in on some of the deals we hear about the unfortunate end result of more open sharing is what we've seen with this trick.
Don't doubt for a minute that there's an active underground about FDs. And layers of sharing, so to speak. And I know I'm not even in the inner circle.
