I add something I do which should've been in Length of security lines for EWR domestic flights?: walk along the top-most level (International check-in & arrivals) of T-C to see whether Checkpoint C-1, C-2, or C-3 is the least busy as one can view all the checkpoints from the less trafficked top-most level.
