Your descriptions are so vivid, and your writing style is so good that I can imagine myself being right there with you. I love the fact that you write about your time at the destination, which is something that not many other FT trip report writers do (I know I don't really!). Great photos, too. ^

India is a country I have long wanted to visit, but unfortunately the security situation has put me off. I'm not surprised about the level of security at your hotels, although I agree that I would find it disconcerting. It really is surprising (and somewhat humbling) the visible differentiation between rich and poor - this is something I experienced (albeit to a lesser degree) in Singapore, with the contrast of Little India and downtown.

The unpleasant passenger story made me chuckle. There always has to be one person that sticks out for a not-so-great reason.
