Attacking the problem from the other side can also help. There is a huge difference in just how much fabrics wrinkle or don't wrinkle. When you are buying, grab a big fistful of the fabric, squeeze, and count to 10 slowly. When you release it, just smooth the fabric out by hand. If it shows any wrinkles, put it back on the rack and move on.

Wools and poly/wool blends tend to do better, but there are variations in them too. Forget all poly for other reasons.

The good stuff will just hang out wrinkle free at your destination. The bad stuff will wrinkle just when you look at it.

And finally, if something wrinkles unexpectedly and you don't have a way of getting it pressed, hang it in the bathroom. Fill the tub with hot water and let then shut the door. A couple of hours in the steam bath will do wonders. Do get it out of there with enough time to cool off and dry out before you put it on. If you put it on even slightly damp it will wrinkle all over again.
