Shangri-La is not a bad option in Hangzhou.
Alternatively, although not luxury at all, a solid 4* on the lake is the Hyatt with a decent (although very small) Regency Club, and some good lake views from the top 2 floors (7+8).
I would stay overnight in Hangzhou- it is a very pleasant city.
I heard that Hangzhou is very scenic and peaceful, esp the famous West Lake. That's why I want to visit to take a look for myself.
Will check out the Shangri-la. Rooms looks kind of understated though. But I guess its being in a nice environment that matters more. I heard Banyan Tree resort is also just opened in Hangzhou.
I have swore off staying at any Hyatt hotels due to continuous bad experience property after property ( bad service ), the latest being at the Park Hyatt Shanghai.
