Now this I wasn't expecting....
A few days ago I booked an ES using 12K UA miles (yes, I know, probably not a great deal but sometimes you have points and not cash)
Got a text from my Pageonce account today telling me that I had a new itinerary in my HHonors account.
Sure enough, it was that reservation with a proper ES confirmation # and everything.
Went to my Hilton account and noted that while the confirmation could be pulled up, a) it said "this reservation cannot be changed online," b) the rate code was "FIT25" and the rate itself "Confidential," c) my address was listed as in Florida (I assume the travel agent which contracts with UA to do these mileage bookings?)
I can't figure out how the UA Mileage Plus website hotels-for-miles site got my reservation into my HHonors account except that in the comments section when I made the reservation through the UA site I had put "HHonors Diamond member number xxxxxxxxx. Request avail dmd upgrade."
I actually didn't think that the UA-contracted-with folks would give my name to the hotel until the day before (like Expedia does -- or used to -- on its pre-purchases "special rates")
Not that I'm unhappy.... Being in my HHonors account is handy, and allowed me to order the room goodies in advance
