The old livery is so ugly that it's cool! Retro-80's-ugly is the new black, just ask your local 17 year old. I just visited STL and they had the old font + colors on the UA logo in the terminal and thought the same thing as the OP. It would be neat to bring one bird back in the "throwback uniform"
