I think a hotel in Briarcliff could work, but perhaps a 250-room Renaissance is a bit too much. It's 10 minutes from downtown: seems like something along the lines of an Aloft could work. (I can't think of a Marriott brand I'd want to see there - Lord knows we do not need another lame Courtyard to be built.)
I think anyone building that large of a new property would need to be right downtown - walking distance to KC Live, Sprint Center, etc. But it seems like there are some big (and "blah") underperforming hotels downtown already... Renaissance is defintely the Marriott brand I'd want to see though - a departure from the existing blandness.
