I actually want to make a short trip to Hangzhou but there seems to have no nice hotels there and the new FS is not going to open until late 2010. Maybe just a day trip will suffice.
Amanfayun is a series of renovated buildings in an entire village. I have been told that the renovation process was difficult as they wanted to recreate the village as authentic as possible in the beautiful surroundings.
It is not in the city and so is not a 'city' hotel. (I beleive its about 20/30 minutes from Hangzhou city centre).
The rooms are from 66 square metres, deluxe suites about 135 sq metres, village villas 204 sq metres and the amanfayun villa is 290 sq metres. So there are some quite large 'huts' BENLEE.

Aman have gone the cultural route with this resort (something they do incredibly well IMHO). If thats not for you then there is The Banyan Tree which looks hideous to me. I will report back on Amanfayun after my forthcoming trip this summer.
