It confuses the hell out of waiting staff. Afraid of giving wrong discounts, they're strict as hell.

Simply, if there's no tent card in front of the shop, I'd be very cautious about entering the restaurant. I'd ask first and remember who said yes.

That said, when dining with friends, I prefer Amex discounts - Gourmet Club, other Platinum discounts or Selects. I've never had a dispute about them.
