I'm in the same boat as Mr Sydney - i mostly fly AKL-YVR or AKL-LAX and vice versa.

I had a upgrade go through at the gate and got assigned a middle seat in PE however the crew came informed me that there where empty pairs in PE downstairs so i swapped.
