Soon I'll have to start bringing my tools when I travel. Pop the hood and check all the fluids, jack it up and check brake pad wear...

Or they should start building beater used car lots near major airports. Instead of your Hertz #1 Gold card, you bring a set of license plates. Buy something like a 1987 Oldsmobile Firenza for $200, and then sell it back to them at the end of your trip. Might get something in better condition...
