Its verifiable (not sure if I make the cut of being both known and trusted by SH). I have had this happen only once a month ago and it was on YVR-YYC for $179. A colleague on the same flight on a T+ fare was offered the same LMU. Both took it and were slightly underwhelmed when the found out that only 2 cheeseplates were boarded for a full J cabin of 9 pax. And they went without since the FAs were confused as to who to offer them too, therefore, no one got anything.
