Nobody can challenge your idea of an excellent value for miles, but
in general, using airline miles for hotels yields a relatively poor value, and I can certainly challenge that.
It might be a good use of orphan miles, or to get out of SkyMiles for good, but that makes it a good idea, not an excellent value.

Care to elaborate? I wouldn't mind being proven wrong on this point! I was able to use up my DL miles for 2 biz tix to Europe, which at 100K each provided an excellent value, but that option is getting harder and harder.
