Had a 1 night stay this weekend at the GH Shenzhen. We took a taxi from Luohu crossing, the taxi driver didn't know where the GH was even when I told him the mandarin name, finally I told him it was at the large LV store and he finally understood.

I booked a deluxe king, checked in around 9pm and was given a corner room #1808 which was huge, I think it was as big as the junior suite I had in Sheraton SZ. The layout took some getting used to as the room opened to an open plan bathroom, the bathing area was closed off by 2 clear glass walls which means no privacy, I can just imagine housekeeping walking in on someone who is bathing..

2 large sliding screen doors separated the sleeping area from the bathroom. The room had a day-bed, a round glass working table, a potted plant, king bed, LCD TV is mounted on wall opposite bed; not very good as the TV is too far from the bed and looks too small. We had a pretty good view of the city from the floor to ceiling windows.

Overall, its very elegant and understated.

Now for the gripes...

Things started off well when I saw the handwritten note from the GM, went downhill when I tried to access the internet. I had problems and it took ~20mins and 2 calls from technician to settle it, another further 3 calls from guest services to ask me about status which I felt overdid it as it was late at night and I rather not get so many calls. Received another call around midnight, was told my passport was with check-in, didn't realise I had left it there as it was late... Bedding needs improvement, the pillows were very thin and flat. Next morning, I was woken by window cleaners at 9am, I can't understand why they would schedule window cleaning at 9am on a sunday morning when most guests would be sleeping in...

At checkout, I asked the agent to include GP724 and G1 bonus to my bill and they had some difficulty understanding me and took a while to get it sorted, I still didnt see the bonuses on my invoice and would probably have to make a call to GP.

This is only my 2nd stay in a GH, the other being GH HKG. Overall, I would say its OK but nothing fantastic.
