They also will not let you overpay or prepay to cover something bigger than your limit. Wire is acceptable.

Actually, mia is generally a GREAT HELP and always correct, but this time he is probably not correct, at least may be in a part of it.

Fact is: I can't pay online before end of statement period. I pay my Amex Starwood account since a long time online with the same "old" bank account.
Anyway, it does'nt really matter ... when I need help, I call the Amex office in Ft. Lauderdale, they are always a great help:
