Marksg,

Your frustration at losing a vacation after putting so much effort into planning and coordinating is certainly understandable.

My experience, and that of others I've read, is that very often Travelocity's website will claim to have seats available, or seats at a certain price level, but when you finally get to the point of trying to buy those seats, they are suddenly unavailable or higher-priced. It seems like Travelocity (and I've heard of this with other booking engines too) don't have the "freshest" information when you do a search for flights. So in fact, had you tried to book any of these "whole screen full" of flights, you might well have found they were unavailable, or you might have had your card charged and then discovered that the seats did not exist at the airport, or by a phone call from the airline.

Now I don't want to imply that the airlines and booking services are completely innocent. Far from it. And I will never forget the time that US Airways told me the price doubled on my transatlantic reservation when I came back to pay for it 8 hr after making the reservation--only to discover that the original fare was still available if I merely opened a new browser window; I canceled the doubled-fare reservation and re-booked at the original fare with success and made the trip without trouble. But it showed me that US Airways was completely dishonest about these fares on their own website.
