I had complained to my MP when Paul Martin was prime minister about the annoyance of the five year passport and all the forms. We received a response from the PM's office that said that the passport office had done a study and for security reasons they would always demand a five year full reapplication and told me to get lost. Then when the government changed, the rules lightened up and the ten year deal would be parallel to the US. I find that whenever you complain to the government they will always say you're dumb then half the time they do it later.
