Thanks for all the replies. My agent had tried to change the seats for me, but said that they just 'went on request'. She thought that their systems might be down. In any case, after checking this morning, my seats are showing up on the seating plan, so panic over!

No idea what caused this, but perhaps payment was delayed, as suggested. I've had this on BA before and only found out when I tried to check in online.
