The CO seat was designed to have a thinner seat back so that it created more space for the seat behind without increasing pitch - which I find to be an advantage if you are in coach with 31" pitch.

I have no problems with the CO coach seat back and its comfort. It is just the seat padding that I find hard. I usually would sit on a pillow to soften, but CO has eliminate pillows.
