How many of you "old-timers" might recall CAL's marketing blitz when the current model of Y seat was introduced?

In the overblown marketing hype typical of the time for CO they announced it as nothing less than the "most comfortable coach seat in the world."

Pretty funny, if not sad...

Actually, mostly what they were excited about were the adjustable headrests with the movable "wings." Those are actually a good feature, albeit fairly common among most U.S. airlines now.

P.S.: Here are some comments regarding CO's economy seating from airlinequality.com. Note how--with the exception of the 767-400--all the comments are extremely critical of the space and comfort of CO's Y cabin:
