LAN is a good plan for QF/AA/CX but not for most of the other OW airlines (if flying discounted Y). For QF it accrues status roughly twice as fast as QFF or Aadvantage; as for the value of the points earned, that is harder to compare as the redemption schedule is quite quirky. Also note that SYD-AKL J does not qualify for LAN's fast track to Emerald promotion (but AKL-SCL does, if you happen to fly that then it becomes much like the AA Plat challenge).
