Very frustrating, and you're playing russian roulette waiting for a UA fare sale, because it might not happen and the other cheaper fares might all go up as well. Back in the day you could re-fare but that isn't an option anymore, with the $250 refare penalty.
Maybe watch the seat loading and pull the trigger later. If these flights do not start to fill up, the fares will drop. I am seeing a ton of seats on my ORD-MUC flight in mid-April and expect my SWU to clear as well-- my W -fare was under $1000.
