Ive got a LH flight this weekend. Over the last week or so there has been only one seat showing in BP. It looks like it was handed to the airport (is that the right term?) today and suddenly there are 8 seats showing as available.

I have seen this happen before, any idea why?

A few reasons that I can think of. The online seat selector is not always a fair representation of seats occupied/unoccupied on the front. However, when seating control is passed from central reservations to the airport of departure, then the operations team there play around with the seating. People may have cancelled tickets or changed flights (which might not be reflected in the seating map), the seats may have been blocked off for some reason and have now become free.
