The distances to walk from intl gate to immigration to US preclearance are much shorter, especially in YOW, but you will also have a reduced selection of flights inbound from Europe and outbound to the US.

But it should be noted that the transfer process in YYZ/YOW/YUL is not of AC's making. The Canadian government is wholy responsible, and perhaps GTAA for making YYZ so BIG.
