As we know not being able to redeem BA miles with AA takes away a large chunk of capacity which other Alliance FFP don't have to put up with. The Chase miles bonanza I bet is having a effect on availability plus many more people seem to be travelling this year compared to last.
Well, I tried a few weeks ago to find availability for 2 pax to South Africa with BA in CW for next winter and there was no availability at all in Dec and Jan. I know that this is a difficult destination to redeem on, especially at that time of year, so I am not saying that this is typical of BA redemption patterns overall. But from the perspective of a BD/BA comparison, I was, OTOH, able to find more availability on *A (LH and TP, as well as tons of availability on TK but I discount that one). It is also a route which is less likely to be affected by the Chase thing and where the impossibility to redeem on aa tatl has no relevance either.
