Did the NYC Garment Center CTO closing affect you?

I frequent this CTO on a regular basis as it serviced AA, CO & DL (US pulled out much earlier this year). There were always very long lines at the AA counter and frankly I was shocked to see it closed. Now, you are forced to wait on lines at the 42nd Street CTO that are as long as waiting to pass security checkpoints at most airports.

The agents at the DL counter remarked to me yesterday, that they thought this was a mistake as this CTO always generated a great deal of street traffic due to it's location (Times Square & the Garment Center) and that AA benefitted from the presence of CO and DL. People would walk in to compare fares due to the presence of all 3 carriers. This only added to the regular business type customers that would rather deal directly with an AA CTO agent rather than a travel agent.

Were you affected by this closing? Also, are airlines in general making a mistake closing their CTO's?
