£250 looks like a lot of money to me still. Usually the cancellation fee is £100 if you book with EK directly. So if there is a difference in the fare then this would explain the extra £250. How long ago did you book the ticket, is the same fare still available if you were to rebook? If so you might want push the travel agent to cancel at £100 and rebook at the old fare making your cost only £100.

This ticket was booked as a package holiday ticket so everything was via travell agent. I booked the whole trip 4 weeks ago. If I rebook, according to my TA only business class seats are left ( : (which Emirate denies and says there are a lot other econmy seats available)
