Iberia had a MAD-LAX route many years ago (I'm thinking ~20?) which was dropped. There have been rumors of its return from time to time (even last year) but with AA/BA/IB ATI pending I'd be surprised to hear any new route announcements from any of those carriers until ATI is granted, the AA/BA joint business venture is running, and the IB/BA merger is farther along.

I don't think anyone has a good idea how service to individual cities will be affected once ATI is done; since LHR on AA and BA is the only nonstop European destination from LAX offered by OW airlines (since EI exited with their DUB service) it's anybody's guess how access to Europe will change over the next year or two. Oneworld is getting smoked on west coast < > Europe service at present.
