First time to China and, thus, Shanghai. We are staying at the portman ritz and I have no clue how to get there. Hotel is offering a transfer, though I think it is probably uber expensive. I do not know where this hotel is. Would someone pls share some insight? Is a taxi viable? Estimated cost? Would the train work? I think i would like to take the train back to PVG for sure. How early do you arrive at PVG for departure to US?

Portman Ritz is a good hotel location on Nanjing road. One of the prime shopping and commercial street in shanghai. And about 10 mins walk away, the closest metro station would be Jin An Temple right also right beside it the Airport bus terminus. Upon arrival at PVG you can take the a non stop bus to the terminus, believe its bus no. 2 and cost about 24RMB for the trip, if you travelling light, head east or turn left with the terminus behind you, you should get there in 10 mins. Else grab a taxi, should take you less than 3 mins to get there.
A taxi ride from PVG to Portman would cost about 160RMB in the day on regular traffic. If you arrive late past 11pm, with the midnight surchage expect to pay in the region of 200RMB. Ride time about 40 mins. If you arrive during morning or evening peak hour travel time might double.
